Ellen Colcord

Ellen Colcord is an artist who has been acutely aware of the concentration and focus in her art-making process from an early age. She studied at Yale University’s Divinity School, focusing on Art and Religion, and at Academia di Belle Arte in Urbino, Italy. She holds a Master’s in Studio Art from New York University. Drawing from the spiritual and sublime, her practice encompasses a diverse range of artistic output, including painting, collage, films, books, ceramic sculpture, and curation.

Colcord describes her journey in painting the "Inner Landscape" as an exploration of her infinite inner universe, where she expresses what words often limit. She has exhibited and taught painting workshops both nationally and internationally, dedicating years to teaching disadvantaged children in Central America and at New York City’s Covenant House.

In her curatorial work, she has organized exhibitions such as “GIRLS,” a New York City fundraiser for 60 homeless and abused girls living in Guatemala. Between 2018 and 2021, she served as the coordinator for Visionary Studio Art, a social justice and art program at New York University. Her search for the spiritual continues to inspire her artistic endeavors.
